Fluke Networks’ Versiv Shows A Passed Cable Test Ready For Launch

Fluke Networks’ most recent Versiv software update expands the features of the tool.

The software update can be loaded into your Versiv cable tester. The Updating your DSX CableAnalyzer (Versiv) article has step-by-step instructions on how to update your Versiv main and remote unit. Once the main unit is updated, any module inserted into it will automatically update as well, and you can also use the unit to update your remote.

The list of testers that can be updated to the newest version, Versiv 6.6 are:

Expanded features

A couple of new features were rolled out as part of this software update. A few of these features will allow for new ways to use your certification tool, while others will expand the types of measurements you’re able to conduct.

Now that the newest ISO Modular Plug Terminated Links (MPTL) limits are published, the Versiv software has been updated to match. We also tweaked the TCL measurements for the current ISO 11801-9907 Direct Attach Class D, E, and Ea we, and added a new (+ALL) option is now in the menu.

As part of your (+PoE) tests, the loop resistance test now supports a pass/fail option instead of the previous info only option. This new function waves a warning flag if the performance isn’t there for your PoE system.

Corrections and bug fixes

As with any software, as people began using it, bugs are reported. This update included fixes that had been reported to Fluke Networks since the last software releases. Among these fixes, you’ll see a correction to the End-to-End (E2E) limits, updating them to the latest versions of ISO and TIA.

Plus, two noise floors were updated with this release. The noise floors for Class D were updated in the latest revision of ISO 11801 Class D for NEXT and PSNEXT, so the new software matches the newest. The TCL noise floor for TIA 100m (LA) (+ALL) limits were also updated.

A small error with scrolling on certain screens was also addressed, while this didn’t affect many users, the update should make your tools easier to operate remotely.
